Data Sync System

You might already have a great website and simply need to keep up with the new products and pricing that are continually released by manufactures.  For eChise and non eChise customers, we now offer the ability to sync to our in-depth catalog which is updated on a daily basis with new items, pricing, and manufactures as seen at VividRacing.com.  Based upon a monthly subscription cost, you can export products by make/model, manufacturer, category, or even the entire product list.

So what are some of the Frequently Asked Questions?

Q. Does the eChise system require me to buy all products exclusively from Vivid Racing?

A. No not at all.  We are providing you the tools to sell products and you can purchase from where ever you would like.

Q. Do I have to only sell the products as seen on VividRacing.com?  I carry brands they do not have.

A. No you can carry other brands and add other products to your site.  The Sync System is based off product ID’s and will not effect anything you add to the shopping cart already.

Q. What are the “rules” in the sync that I need to create?

A.  These are the rules of how you want to execute your data.  You can choose to Sync the entire catalog or other options.  A company that sells only BMW and Porsche parts might want only products related to that Make and Model.  A company that only sells Exhausts might just want that category.  Or you might be creating a store to sell only a certain Manufactures products.  There are many options.  But to Sync, you must first choose your options also know as RULES.

Q. I have updated some product descriptions, pictures, and pricing on products, will the Sync System overwrite them?

A. No it will not.  The Sync System has intellegent programming to not update products that have altered product characteristics from its original state.  Once you make a change to that product, it gets a different Product ID then what is on our database.

Q. Does TheRohnstein.com have to host the product images?

A. Yes we do.  This is the most efficient way to serve up the products in the sync system.  Images are pulled from a shared “Cloud Server” on Rackspace.com.  If by chance you feel your site running slow because of the images, please create a support ticket and we will investigate the issue.

Q. What if I want to change the image of a product, do I still have access to the catalog’s images folder?

A. Absolutely.  The Sync System is designed to search for images only if there is not one from the images folder already in place related to that product.  As stated above, if you change a product image, that product becomes uniquely yours.

Q. What if I decide I do not want to use the Sync System anymore and will be taking my business a different direction.  Am I required to still have TheRohnstein.com host my old product images?

A. Yes and No.  We will do a 1 time dump of the product images to your server for a fee TBD.  Your account must be in good standing.

Q. How often do you add new products or update prices?

A. We do this daily!  Major pricing updates or manufacture additions will be announced on our Blog Here or via TheRohnstein Twitter.  You can only use the Sync System up to 5 times a day.  This is in order to prevent overage and slowing down the servers.

Q. The pricing that you have posted, is that discounted or retail?

A. The majority of the pricing is listed at MSRP or List pricing in accordance with the manufactures provided pricing.  Some products do not have a set price so these are set to margins we see fit.

Q. Can I discount the prices from retail to be competitive with other companies?

A.  Yes you can discount the items in the eChise Admin Panel under Marketing -> Specials by Category.  Please NOTE that some manufactures have a VERY strict Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) policy.  Regardless if you are a direct dealer or you buy from a Distributor such as Vivid Racing, you must adhere to those prices.  Please check with your distributor before you reduce pricing.

Q. I do not have a eChise based site, how do I take advantage of the Data Sync System?

A. You can still use the system.  Once you select the rules of your Sync, you will have to do a SQL Export.  This SQL file will require changing data to fit your predetermined tables for the shopping cart system you use.  This requires some experience and work but is very useful no matter the cart you have.

Q. How does the Payment Subscription work?

A. Subscriptions are paid using our reoccuring credit card billing system.  We accept Visa or Mastercard for these transaction.  You will provide the billing address and credit card information on your signed contract.  Each time your credit card is ran, you will be emailed a receipt.  The subscriptions are setup to save you money based on the term length (Month to Month, 6months, Yearly).  If you your payment fails to reoccur, your Sync System account will be disabled.

Q. I have another question and don’t see the answer, what do I do?

A. Create a Support Ticket and someone will promptly assist you!

Q. Great all those helped me out.  So how can I get started with the Data Sync System?

  1. Create an account on our Data Sync System Here.
  2. Pay for subscription - We offer several options for subscriptions.  These are paid via credit cards.
  3. Create rule for products you wish to Sync - This is where you create rules or in basic terms, what you want to sync.  You have the option to sync the full catalog, individual categories, specific make and models, or certain manufactures.  For example if you only sell Exhausts, you can export the Exhaust section only.
  4. Process Sync - Once you choose your rules, you just need to click “Back to Sync” and then Execute your rule.  You will only be able to complete 5 Sync’s in one day.
